Barocas, a 24-year-old forklift operator who moonlighted as a rock drummer, was found in his Cedar Street home with multiple stab wounds to his arms and chest on July 29, 1980, said Pennsylvania State Police in a release.
Authorities were called to the home by an anonymous tipster, according to contemporaneous reporting by the Philadelphia Inquirer, and detectives believed the 24-year-old might have been dead for up to 12 hours when he was found.
Borough police said at the time that nothing was missing from Barocas' apartment and there were no signs of forced entry, though there was some evidence of a struggle.
Anyone with information is asked to call PSP's Troop M Criminal Investigation Assessment Unit at 610-861-2026 or submit an anonymous tip on the Pennsylvania Crime Stoppers webpage.
